About PaprikaTown

It seems to have taken ages to design this blog and get it up and public.

If you're interested, the colours used have been taken mainly from those found in traditional Magyar design, especially rugs and pottery.

Luminous bluish-greens, reddish inky-blues and blended shades from orange to brown are familiar dominant colours here. In fact, stretching the three colours of the national flag provides a basic pallette for much of the beautiful design that can be found in many antiques shops in Budapest and the national ethnography museum.

Playing with colours is fun (even if mine don't all blend together). But playing with Blogger's latest 'simplified' design system is a nightmare. I recommend anyone thinking of using it should drop the idea. Choose an independent layout design, find out how to modify it, then upload it to Blogger for the networking widgets that do actually work.

Who is PaprikaTown for? Anyone with an interest in Hungary – especially Budapest. I have imagined readers may be potential tourists or visitors, or future or present expats, like myself. I am encouraged that the first comment, in fact, comes from a Hungarian who believes the country needs a discerning expat view.

Unfortunately, due to the language barrier (!), I can contribute less on the politics of this country than I would like. But in a few decades I may be able to interpret the news headlines!!!

That's all there is to be said about PaprikaTown. I hope readers find it useful.

But one more thing ... I've discovered Microsoft Explorer cannot render the colours or the text of this website correctly. Microsoft should do something about that. In the meantime, I recommend using a decent browser such as the one found here.

Comments are always welcome.

I'm really enjoying your blog as a soon to be British ex-pat experiencing Budapest myself!

Thanks, Will.

I'm sure you'll enjoy Budapest even more once here. You'll find a good expat network too, to help you accustomise.
